USED and NGVD Datums
The Zero datum for each gage listed is referenced to either National Geodetic Vertical Datum (NGVD)* or to the United States Engineering Datum (USED)**.
In the Sacramento and San Joaquin River Basins, the adjustment from USED to NGVD varies from gaging station to gaging station within a range of 2.48 feet to 3.2 feet. The commonly used adjustment, when not otherwise known, is 3.0 feet.
