Recreational River Conditions

Stage and Flow Data

This page is geared for recreational users. Complete data access may be obtained through the CDEC Home Page.

You can retrieve data from recent hours or previous daily averages. Select a gage location from this list of river stage stations, or use this general interface to all types of stations. These include rain gages, snow pillows, air temperature, stream gages, reservoir elevation and storage data.

New Stations

There are a number of new river stage stationsavailable, due to funding resulting from the January floods. They are mainly in the Central Valley.

Examples

Tomales Bay kayakers might find Tomasini Point or Golden Gate weather of interest. Folsom Lake elevation is relevent to boaters on the South Fork American River. Scheduled Releases from New Melones Reservoir might be of interest to Stanislaus River boaters. Plots of daily temperature (minimum/maximum) are also available; for example, Sawyers Bar on the Salmon River (California). An explanation of the Tuolumne River gages that would be of use to recreational boaters.

Other resources

Please note that these stations are funded and operated using funds budgeted for public safety, flood forecasting, and water supply evaluation. This recreation page is extremely optional for us; using the data here for purposes other than these, while welcomed, is at your own risk. We aren't required to provide general public access to these data in this fashion, and we hope you agree that your tax dollars should be solely used to fund the programs for which they were budgeted.
