Milestones
- Manual measurements 1932-1964
- Gages on rivers were automated, telemetry controlled by a
minicomputer installed in 1973
- Remote users in 1981
- Purchase of two large minicomputer systems in 1986-1987 to handle
the increased demand for information
- Tranisition from manual data entry to automated electronic data
transfer (80% reduction in manual data entry). Implementation of
data exchange with other agencies.
- Installation and implementation of Unix file servers and Ingres
relational database management system in 1994.
- Development of Internet web page for data dissemination, 1996.
